The recent life-coaching session was indeed very revealing. The most sensitive of all the questions in the survey was about the Bible. And 9 of those surveyed did not answer that particular question at all. And one of the responders actually marked that question with a very bold asterisk* as shown below…

The following chart shows the outcome of the preliminary survey…
74 percent (essentially, three-quarter) of the youth believe that every verse in the Bible is 100 percent the word of God; as though every single word in the Bible was dictated by God or was from God.
And what is the problem with that?
The problem is that not every verse in the Bible is the word of God; indeed a lot are not, and to take it ‘as though every single word in the Bible was dictated by God or was from God’ has manipulative effect and dire consequences. For example, 1 Corinthians 7:12 & 25, and 2 Corinthians 11:17 provide clear clues that not every verse in the Bible is from God; indeed the Bible is made up of historical records, poetry, etc; a lot of which are not God’s word; we should not misconstrue 2 Timothy 3:16.
Why is this misconception ‘as though every single word in the Bible was dictated by God or was from God’ so prevalent? I answer that in my article: ‘The Second Cricifixion; Are Christians Being Careless?’ you may click here or click the link below to see that article.
Mean/Average age of those surveyed was 23; actual ages ranged from 12 to 43 years. Even though the initial sample space was 85, and not very large and universal enough, the results have been very revealing and somewhat worrying. Since 11 percent (9) of those surveyed did not respond to the question, it leaves only 15 percent (13) as those who rightly know that not every verse in the Bible is the word of God as though every single word in the Bible was dictated by God or was from God.
