Hi, Seer! I call you ‘Seer’ because you come across as someone who ‘sees’ a wonderful future for yourself, and you’re taking steps to achieve it; in other words, you have Vision! Seer, money is important, we all agree on that fact. To illustrate its importance King Solomon said in the Wisdom Literature that, “Money answers everything,” and, “…wisdom is a defence as money is a defence.” It is said, “You are not really free until you are financially free!” That, “Money is the sixth sense without which the other five senses cannot be used effectively.” Since money is that important, why have we not made adequate effort to teach ourselves the effective ways to create abundant wealth? Is it not sad that financial difficulties in various forms continue to reign as the topmost issues bothering the majority of people; ‘sinners’ and ‘saints’ alike? The wealth profile across society is heartbreaking! Experts estimate that just about 10 percent of the people own 90 percent of all the wealth available. Besides, the Rich is getting richer, and the Poor, poorer! All these happen because there is a general and a gross lack of financial literacy at the basic level. What one likely gets is the classical advice, “Go to school, study hard, pass your exams well and get a good, well-paying job!” Good advice; however, not enough! The reason is that the subject of making money is not given adequate attention in our schools, if at all; except probably later in business schools. Indeed, Seer, inference drawn from a study once carried out by Harvard University implied that school teaches just about 22 percent of what people require to be truly effective and significantly great. The general neglect of financial literacy makes many people operate from a position of ignoranceor a state of unconscious incompetence – not knowing what one does not know – and consequently struggle financially, though each of us has the potential to create abundant wealth for our individual selves, and our dependants. The principal objective of this book therefore, is to be a good complement to formal education – by stimulating you to awaken the financial genius that lies within you. This book will educate you on wealth creation in a simple and innovative way; the other objective being to help boost the Small to Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) Sector. I have learnt through my experience in business that to be successful you must love people enough to want to see their lives improve, and then you must fall in love with your product/service, for some reason; know and love how that product/service helps people. With your love for people and your love for the product/service, you have a business that will be unmatched. That’s what it takes, but we are all ‘pre-programmed’ to want to be doctors, engineers, accountants and so on; which is good, but not good enough to become truly rich because really, these are all areas that are in the middle income bracket. Yes, with savings, you can do a few things but it is ‘tough’ in that bracket, and you are not likely to break the barrier and become truly rich, where you will have money in excess of what you can ordinarily spend. This book provides that insight and guides you to appreciate what it takes to become truly rich and financially free! I think it presents a good challenge to people who have good formal education, and who can and should change things in our country and in Africa as a whole. True wealth creation has for so long been left to the not-very-educated ones. The few very educated people I know who have ventured into basic businesses have made things work.For instance, though I had a degree and was an accountant, I went into money lending; an area that hitherto was not for the very educated. I think that background made a world of a difference because then, I could make something different out of it. People should really move away from their comfort zones, risk and venture into more rewarding areas and become truly rich; the book helps in that light. David has done well in coming up with a book that should help the Youth and Practitioners in the Small to Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) Sector, especially. The approach is good; it really sets you prepared so as not to take things for-granted, in the light of the numerous challenges involved in the Wealth Creation process, especially in Africa where systems are not structured enough. The book gets you to have the mindset and the resolve to face the challenges.
