Dear NCCE

Dear NCCE,

1. I must commend you on your effort at campaigning against mob injustice. I’m glad you called it ‘mob action’ and did not call it ‘mob justice’ as some people erroneously do. Kudos!

2. I will recommend that you change the accompanying image to rather show the right thing expected of people, or otherwise add that positive image in a relatively larger size; for instance, you could show people taking a suspect to the police station.

The maxim is: ‘If you want to promote good, show good; if you want to promote bad, show bad.‘ The reason is that, studies have found out that, ‘whatever gets projected/attention (especially if visual) gets promoted.’ By extension/implication, your accompanying images may end up doing more harm than good; as well intentioned as it is.

3. I like to indicate that it’s not always that mob action is negative; sometimes mob action is positive, for example: people combining forces to apprehend a thief, and taking him/her to the police station without molestation. Thus, I want to believe that it’s not really mob action you should be directing your campaign at but rather ‘mob injustice.’

I trust that by drawing attention to this, I’ve been the citizen the president requires me to be. I like to add my voice to the campaign: ‘LET US ALL SOUND THE ALARM: SAY NO TO MOB INJUSTICE!’ Long live the NCCE!! Long live Ghana!!!
